Valor's RM-921C is a great way to add multimedia to your vehicle (or expand upon your existing multimedia receiver). This 9.2-inch overhead unit plays back your DVD/CDs/SVCD/VCD discs, JPEG/MP3/MPEG4 digital files, and features an IR transmitter for wireless headphones, a USB port, SD/MMC card reader and more. 9.2-Inch Display
The drop-down 9.2 inch TFT LCD monitor features a 800 x 480 resolution and 16:9 widescreen format. Movies will look great, as will video games or any other video source you take along with you.

The monitor is both NTSC and PAL compatible.

DVDs and More
Play back your favorite DVDs, DVD-R/RWs, or DVD+R/RWs. Standard DVD functions are supported, such as multi-angle viewing, zoom in/out, and various search functions. You can also enjoy video on VCD or SVCD discs.

As for music, you can enjoy CDs and CD-R/RWs, and bring along MP3 CDs to enjoy thousands of songs on one disc.

You can also view JPEG images and MPEG4 video, from disc or from the SD card or USB inputs.

USB and SD Card Support
Use the front-panel USB port and SD card slot to quickly access and swap out your digital media. Bring along media on a USB thumb drive, instantly check out family photos on SD cards, and more.

IR Transmitter
The RM-921C features a built-in IR Transmitter for use with IR wireless headphones. NOTE: Headphones are not included.

Wireless FM Modulator
The wireless FM modulator lets you send audio from the unit to a receiver that lacks audio inputs--just dial in the radio to the selected frequency and the sound will be broadcast to your vehicle. You can also use this with RF headphones.

A/V Input and Output
With two A/V inputs, you can quickly toggle between two A/V devices. For example, you could dedicate one to the output of your multimedia receiver, and one to a video game system or camera.

An A/V output lets you send the signal to a second monitor.

LED Dome Light
The LED dome light can be wired to turn on when your doors are open, as with normal dome lights.

Remote Included
A full-function remote control is also included.

Valor RM-921C Overhead DVD Player May 13, 2008 By Helper
Shopped around and compared this unit with Clarion units. My installer mentioned that the picture quality and rubber type covering are just like the Clarion models. Unit was installed in a 2004 Toyota Sienna. Overall my kids loved the unit and most importantly it gave my wife and I peace of mind. (priceless). Keep in mind that if you want to listen to your radio station while passengers are viewing a dvd they must use the infrared headphones which you can purchase seperately or bundled with the unit unless you don't mind listening to the movie soundtrack on your radio. I bought after market headphones which worked great. The headphones seperate the sound via Infrared which then allows you to listen to your radio/cd using your van/car speakers.

I have installed several flip down monitors and DVD players that were more money and not half as good as this unit. First off the display is clear and bright. Lots of flip downs have horrible viewing angles and can only be seen if right on center. This unit was installed in a 2010 Honda Pilot. No matter what seat you sit in or how high up or down in the seat you are the picture looks clear and bright. Some reviews on this item say that they cannot play any mp4's from the usb drive. I easily found out from Valor to encode mp4's using XVID as the codec and AVI as the output container. If you download Super by erightsoft(freeware)you can easily convert movies to XVID which play perfectly on this player. Since the screen is only 9.2 inches you can compress a DVD movie down to about 600mb. I have a 16gb usb drive and it holds about 24 movies right now. They all look great on this player and I never have to carry DVD's in a binder and get them all scratched up anymore. I recommend using an audio cable via the audio out and connect into your head units Aux input. The FM modulator built into this unit works well but introduces static at higher volumes.

I just installed this so I'm not sure about durability but the picture is beautiful. The FM transmitter works great too. I installed in a 2004 Ford Freestar. Bought IR headphones and those work great with it. For the money and screen quality, I don't think you can find a better deal.

BTW, I paid $299. Not sure why it's so expensive now.

This dvd player has options that alot of more expensive units have, and the quality is very nice too. Wireless headphones are a great option that the kids love, resume play is great so Mom and Dad do not have to keep restarting the movie on long trips. So, this is a very nice unit, well worth the money!!!!!

I've had this unit for about a month now, and it works like a charm. The IR wireless headphone range is pretty decent, but sound quality through the radio speakers via FM transmitter is not so great. The door trigger for dome lights has some quirks as well. The overall picture quality is stunning for a unit in this price range.
