Remiss about Remote Jul 15, 2010 It was great to get a replacement remote, yet it is impossible to reprogram to work with the television and therefore, a waste of $$$.

Make sure you have the right person program it May 17, 2010 This is a wonderful remote. Just make sure you have the correct person program it for you. If your components are not compatible you may have issues in the way you use the remote. Most can be solved - a few cannot. All in all - really a great remote.

Good Remote - Horrible Customer Support Apr 24, 2010 I had this remote for a number of years. It performs great, but this is not a product for a non-professional unless an authorized dealer programs and continues to update it (normally at a pretty big charge) for you. This unit is not intended to be maintained by an end user. The manufacturer and dealer network make it extremely difficult to get updates without going through a currently authorized dealer. If your dealer looses authorization or goes out of business, URC refuses to help past possibly providing a link to an old copy of their software editor. Without paying another authorized dealer for things that were originally provided, the end user is SOL.
Again, if you don't mind paying an authorized dealer to maintain the remote (or you never need any changes - ie don't add or change your components), this is a great remote. Just realize there is an on going expense.
If you do intend to program it yourself and have access to the software, there is a learning curve for the software. That's why the professionals take classes.
In summary, if you want to pay someone else to maintain the remote, this is a great product. If you want to maintain a remote yourself, get another brand.

No help from the maker ! Feb 23, 2010 Nice and versatile remote. But don't count on any technical support. The maker of this control says it is not in production and refuses to offer support any more.
Personally I believe that if you pay this much for a remote, tech support should always be available at lest for those who already purchased it. I called them today and was outright refused help and told to go back to where I bought it.
That is a good example of what has gone wrong with American companies and their customer service attitudes.

No customer support available from Universal Remote Feb 23, 2010 While the product seems sound, if you have a problem forget getting any help from the manufacturer. They will just tell you it is not in production and won't provide any help. They send you to where you bought it in the first place and often, they don't provide any actual technical support.
If you want a decent product with support, don't buy this because you will be left on your own once you have it.
Do some research and try calling the manufacturer of what ever device you are considering to be sure you can actually get customer support.
Universal Remote, the maker of this has very long wait times then once they stop making a product they will no longer support yours either.
