Best Remote Jul 08, 2010 I work with this product line all the time. The price point of this remote and the build quality are great. You do have to understand how to build macro's to make it easy to use.. To bad URC have discontinued this product. That is why I bought 2, one to use now and one to save for a later application. My original URC is 5 years old and going strong but some of the finish is starting to wear off. Still functions great.
Versatile Remote Control Jul 03, 2010 Purchased this remote control a few years ago when it was known as URC200.
I've never been able to find out why the name (model No.)change but the remote is
basically the same. It's great when you purchase the transponder as well because the
"Radio Freq." of the unit comes into it's own. It does the job as claimed and works
very well and is great value. If only the price of delivery was cheaper as I've
almost paid the same price for delivery as for the remote.
URC MasterControl RF20 Universal Learning Remote w/ RF Capability Jun 08, 2010 Works great! I can change channels from anywhere in my home. Maxdistance is ~ 60 ft. Never misses a beat. and Batteries last 6 months. Easy to program. Recommended! Worth the money. Cons- only one channel for RF.
Powerful remote for the money! May 09, 2010 I just put together a 5.1 surround AV system with a Pioneer receiver, Sony Blu-ray player, Verizon HD Cable box, and Sony cassette deck (remember those?), and Nitendo Wii. I purchased the RF20 remote to, hopefully, eliminate my pile of individual remotes and give me one remote control over my system. My receiver only has two HDMI inputs so I connected the Cable box and Blu-ray player to those; I connected the Wii using its optional component cable to the BD/DVD component input. The cassette deck is connected analog audio. The remote is not ALL powerful like URC's more expensive remotes ($200-800) appear to be, but I can sit in a chair and power-on the receiver, HDTV, Blu-ray player and Cable box with one button. Then I can switch the receiver to any source connected to it, and control any source with IR codes (Wii & Sony cassette I have to turn on manually).
The RF20 doesn't have any IR codes for Wii so I use the DVD button on the remote to control both the Blu-ray player and Wii. Under the DVD button menu I changed two buttons I didn't need using the text editor to say Wii-A (Wii audio) and Wii-V (Wii video). Then I used the RF-20's learn command to teach it IR data from TV remote's component video button and Pioneer receiver's audio select button. This setup allows me to sit in chair and "toggle" between playing Wii watching BD or listening to CD. All my components are line of sight so the remote works great without its optional RF powerblaster. I highly recommend the RF20 remote for relatively simple AV systems where components are connected HDMI; otherwise some compromise and problem solving ability is required. To ensure total control of more complex systems it would be a good idea to step up to URC's MX900 or something of that nature.
excellent universal remote Apr 24, 2010 The remote does all it's advertised to do. "Learning" function make it easy to transfer functions you like from your previously used remotes. Would recommend this remote to anyone wanting to have a single remote to control his or her entertainment center.
