cheaper HDMI cable. Jun 09, 2010 I preferred buying this cable from amazon.com since I found its price cheaper here than sony stores.

This HDMI wire is fine. But Read before you purchase.. Apr 20, 2010 I can honestly tell you that as long as the HDMI wire you buy is properly shielded, 1080p certified,ect.. it doesnt make a difference if it costs 5 bucks or 100(Im not saying go by the cheapest possible wire,Im stating that labeling "for use with PS3" is a sales ploy in the sense that any decent HDMI wire can b successfully used with a PS3. If you read the reviews for some of the cheaper wires & make sure that they certify them to do what u need them to(whether it be bluray or video game console ANY GOOD HDMI WIRE WILL SUFFICE AS LONG AS ITS SHIELDED & 1080p CERTIFIED!), u will save a bundle.. I have a monster wire that normally runs 100 bucks & I have bought several different cheaper brands commonly found on amazon in the 5 to 7 dollar range, there was no difference in picture or sound(and I have a high end receiver so if there was any benefit to paying more for HDMI wires I would, being that I am willing to overspend when theres a benefit to it.( I tried all combinations of wires from Verizon HD box, Bluray player, PS3 ect...All to my receiver then to my 50" Samsung LCD, so any difference to discern would be noted) Bottom line, shop around read the reviews, and never believe anything that comes out of a salesmans mouth!
High quality. Do their job. Pricey, though. Feb 24, 2010 Like other reviewers, I'm impressed by the fact that the HDMI cable is covered in a protective braided sheath, and also by the actual connectors being gold-plated. However, I am surprised that the USB cable is of similar quality, simply because the USB cable that comes with the PS3 is not, and is only a basic, unassuming USB cable (I would've thought it'd be the other way around).
I bought Sony brand because it's an OCD thing for me to always by first party (or officially licensed) accessories and hardware for my gaming consoles. Ultimately though, I doubt that this HDMI cables does anything more than what a $7 one would, so if you're a bargain hunter, I see no reason to not go that route. If you're dead-set on these, but have time to kill, I recommend waiting until the price drops at least $10, as $40 really is a bit much.
Overall:
Quality: A+
Price: C

Two questions answered... Jan 27, 2010 I bought this Sony cable package from Amazon with my PS3 after reading the reviews here and pondering the cost. Here is my answer to two questions people generally ask.
First, how long are the cables? The HDMI and USB cables are both 10 ft. long. That's great for the USB, but a lot of excess length for the HDMI that must be rolled up and hidden behind your equipment.
Second, why do they cost so much and are they worth the price? These are high quality flexible cables with fabric covering that immediately unroll into a straight line and have no lasting stiff kinks like all the other plastic covered cables I have. That definitely makes them a pleasure to use and worth their cost to me. The output on any AV system is no better than its weakest link. It makes no sense to save a few bucks on a longterm purchase like cables that are relatively inexpensive, yet vital parts of my $5,000 AV system. You can buy these cables knowing that you are getting the best quality while also avoiding the irritation of needing to unravel them each time you use your PS3. I'm glad I bit the bullet and bought them up front so I have one less thing in life to second guess or buy again...

HDMI cable Jan 26, 2010 I purchased this cable as I needed cable for the PS3 and this came recommended. I had trouble getting the PS3 to switch to HDMI and couldn't figure out what the problem was. I reset and played with my sony TV but to no avail. I contacted Sony but all I got from them was the same info in the FAQ section.
So finally I bought another HDMI cable.

Works fine, what bugs me is this was a new cable that turned out to be a DUD!
How does that happen?
